Police say body found most likely not Gricar's

BELLEFONTE -- Local police say a body found in the Lackawanna River last week is most likely not that of missing District Attorney Ray Gricar, although police in Scranton have not yet received DNA test results on the discovery.

The decomposed body was found in a dry riverbed Sept. 20. Autopsy reports are inconclusive and no cause of death has been determined, according to officials at the Lackawanna County Coroner's Office.

Bellefonte police became aware of the find late last week, and Detective Tom Thal contacted police in Scranton, according to Bellefonte police Officer Darrel Zaccagni. "Someone disappeared a few months ago from Carbondale and (Scranton police) feel real comfortable that it was him they found," Zaccagni said.

Currently, the Lackawanna County Coroner's Office is doing DNA testing to compare that of the corpse to that of the missing man in Carbondale. Bellefonte police have told investigators in Scranton that Gricar's dental records and DNA are available for comparison.

It's in my neck of the woods.

I fear that they will never find him. There's an awful lot of places to hide bodies around here.

The names of the towns don't sound familiar. I went to the article link, and it doesn't say which state, but it has a lot of Penn State stuff on the site. So I think this is in Pennsylvania.
