MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2005-- The 2005 Miami Herald Americas Conference, the premier business and political forum on Latin America and the Caribbean, will feature a wide range of leading decision makers and key diplomats speaking on the top economic issues facing the region today, including China's growing presence in the region, intellectual property rights in Latin America, remittances, and the changing landscape of cross-border investment. The conference, to take place Thursday, Sept. 29 and Friday, Sept. 30 at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Fla., is a must-attend for business and political movers and shakers in the region.
The event opens with an introduction by Gov. Jeb Bush, and the opening day's agenda includes panels on China's growing presence in Latin America. Afternoon sessions will address issues ranging from intellectual property rights to remittances in Latin America. President of Panama Martin Torrijos will present following the discussion panels. Friday's agenda will include the topic of financial stability in the region and feature addresses from today's leading diplomatic figures, including Jose Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the OAS; U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla. and President of Ecuador Alfredo Palacio.
