Careful, FRiend! I got my flame retardant underwear tested almost to the destruction point for saying the same thing.
Points to consider:

1) The logistical nightmare of trying to round up and deport a couple of cities worth of illegals boggles the mind.

2) Just how militarized do anti-immigration folks want our borders? Should the Border Patrol be joined by the Army and given orders to shoot illegals on sight?

3) A substantial percentage of Hispanics regard this sort of thing as racist, i.e. 'We don't want any more of THOSE people in OUR country.' What politician in his right mind is going to infuriate the fastest growing bloc of voters in the country?

How stupid is pissing in the face of 87% of the population in favor of 13%, many of whom are crimalien frauds?

I think this one is easy. Huge fines levied on those who employ invaders. The fines will be paid to the patriotic citizens who rat the employers out. Sending them back? I'l bet Haliburton would be available to manage this........

2) Just how militarized do anti-immigration folks want our borders? Should the Border Patrol be joined by the Army and given orders to shoot illegals on sight?

Army-no, National Guard and coast guard - yes - Enlistment would probably skyrocket knowing that they would be used to protect our soil.
Shoot on sight? Not necessary, land mines? maybe

3) A substantial percentage of Hispanics regard this sort of thing as racist, i.e. 'We don't want any more of THOSE people in OUR country.' What politician in his right mind is going to infuriate the fastest growing bloc of voters in the country?

Racism? BS Who cares what non-Americans thnk or say?
Any candidate who places politics before the best interests of their country deserves to be thrown out of office or defeated at the polls. Most LEGAL immigrants support tighter immigration measures.

Who are these "anti-immigration folks" that you're referring to?

A substantial percentage of Hispanics living in the United States view illegal immigration as a major problem that needs to be addressed:

40% of Hispanic voters voted in favor of the anti-illegal alien measure Prop 187 in California in 1994.

47% of Hispanic voters voted in favor of the anti-illegal alien measure Prop 200 in Arizona last year.

A Time magazine poll done in August of this year showed that 61% of Hispanics rated illegal immigration as a "serious problem."

A recent survey conducted by the Pew Hispanic Center found that 60% of U.S.-born Hispanics support laws that deny driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

If I get flamed for telling the truth, then this web site as a whole is a fraud. FR has always been billed as a conservative new message board. It's one thing if I pull something completely out of my rear-end and feed it to the board (as in no-evidence stories or viewpoints), but for telling the truth - I would loose a whole lot more respect for FR.
