"A P-3 ditching at sea is a lot safer than landing on enemy territory."
Al, me boy...did you happen to notice that big mushroom-shaped thingie on the underside of the airplane, a good distance from the center of gravity? A P-3 is safe to ditch, but an EP-3E will cartwheel.
No P-3 is safe to ditch in. ( 9 was our sister squadron)
"We are Ditching! Ditching! Ditching!"

After I left active. I worked in defense electronics. Its not hardware that makes thing happen these days. Its software. Pull the hard drive or any other boot devices out of your computer and see how well it works.
How many parts in it. Were made in a fab in China.
Anyone who has been around P-3s would never say a P-3 safe to ditch in. Even with an intact airframe.
