I was born in the mid-60's. My parents mistakenly left me in the living room when the news was on (I must've been about 4); the media must have turned against the war by then (I confess I don't know when that happened) and they were showing graphic images.

I have, burned into my brain, images of a graphic helicopter crash complete with charred human remains. I can see it as clearly today as I did then. Mom came into the room and quickly changed the channel.

That whole mentality continued until the mid-70's. I thought my babysitters were nuts...jeans with peace signs sewn on them....total goofballs. My third grade teacher even had a "music break" during the day, where we listened to anti-war songs.

I have always resented growing up following so immediately behind them...because they completely destroy everything that they touch.

The MSM did that, to aid and abet our enemies...the stinking Commies. They thought that if they brought the Nam War into everyone's living room/kitchen/bedroom, then most people, never having been in a war, would be shocked and become anti-war whackos. And it sort of worked.

You can blame Dan Rather for a lot of that; but the other two nightly news channels did much of the same thing, starting in '68!

I'm so sorry that you had to live through that, as such a little child.
