Who has the edge in the season series? If CLE loses all three games, then there would not be a playoff. right?

-----
You're right, it would depend on the season series if the Yanks and the Sox tie. But if the Yanks sweep the Sox and the White Sox sweep the Indians, Cleveland and Boston will play a tie-breaker game for the wild card. Cleveland and Boston are tied for the wild card now, so whichever one does the best in these last series will be the Wild Card team.

GO YANKEES...ptewy...I hate saying that!!!

Now this is better....GO TRIBE!!!...YEAH BABY!!!

Also....If the Red Sox and Indians both take two of three this weekend, Boston, Cleveland and New York all would finish at 95-67, necessitating the first double tiebreaker playoff in major league history.

The Red Sox would play at Yankee Stadium on Monday to decide the AL East, and the loser would play against Cleveland on Tuesday to decide the wild card. The Yankees would travel to Cleveland for a tiebreaker playoff, and the Indians would travel to Boston.
