But wait! There's more!

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed his first major gay rights legislation on Monday, requiring insurance companies to provide coverage to registered domestic partners.

AB 2208, sponsored by Assemblywoman Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego, will compel insurance companies to treat domestic partners the same as married spouses for health, life, auto, renters and homeowners insurance policies. Before, insurers were only required to offer domestic partners coverage equivalent to a dependent.

Savage is almost applauding the veto as we post, saying the Gub has stood up to the gay and lesbo lobbyists. :-

Sounds like we have a little cognitive dissonance going on, eh?

Look: domestic partners are not exclusively homosexual in this state and are the LAW in California.

Don't like it? Fine. Get yourself initiative petitions and earn the votes to overturn domestic partnership by amending the state constitution.

I hate to break with the ilk on this one but I don't have a problem with this. But then I used to be friends with the publisher of Mom Guess What... magazine.

Does that mean non-gay partners get the same benefits? Or does it just benefit gays?
