One interesting proposal to fix that one is to tax consumption goods as they are carried across the borders the same as domestic manufacture. You know ~20% tax levied on all goods to be used for consumption in the U.S.
Give government a big incentive to intercept smugglers/illegals and that nasty etc. at the borders for tax revenue they may owe in the stuff they haul in with them.
Government gets real motivated at the borders when a dollar in tax revenue is at stake ;O)

Big government republicans ARE socialists their not LIKE socialists they ARE SOCIALISTS.. The republican party generally is in extreme denial about whom they/we have become..
