Cape hurricane evacuee gives birth to a son (13th child)

Add another name to the list of residents at the Cape Cod military base where evacuees from Hurricane Katrina are staying. But this one didn't need a plane to get there.

Dionne White of New Orleans gave birth Tuesday at Falmouth Hospital to a boy whom she named Cape Cod Bannister, or C.C. for short. It's the first birth to an evacuee staying at Camp Edwards.

"I named him that because I love Cape Cod," White told The Boston Globe. "Coming here has been a big break for me. It's like Christmas, just a big old miracle. And you don't get that very often."

White, 37, has 12 other children, ranging in age from 3 to 21. Four of them with her.

Three others, an 11-year-old and 9-year-old twins, were at White's sister's house in New Orleans during the storm. White says she begged rescuers to take her to her sister's home several blocks away to get her other children, but they could not. Denise Monteiro, spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services, said the children have not been found.

"I am just praying and praying they are OK," said White.

One of White's children is in jail, another is living in Texas, and three are in adoptive care in Louisiana, according to Massachusetts state officials.

White said she plans to remain in Massachusetts where, she said, "everyone treats you with love."

Monteiro said that two houses, one in Hingham and one in Boston, are being considered for White's family.

"We have never, ever, all of us been together," White said, "so, that's my dream, a nice big old house in Boston. And all 13 of my children."

mine too, unfortunately I'm not in a hurricane prone area so I guess I'll have to work for it.

In case anyone here doesn't get it, herein lies the problem with "black" America. Where are the race pimps, where are the democrats, decrying this behavior. This woman needs to have her tubes tied...

Yeah. You're welcome. Most people have to work to get a Christmas vacation; but I guess you can just lie back, pump out babies and have the tax payers of Massachusetts provide your Christmas.

WHY do I think that the taxpayer has been supporting this lovely woman and her numerous children. I don't know about anyone else, but I am sick and tired of paying for a welfare system that breeds (no pun intended) this type of person.

A democrat voter, that's for sure. Notice the wording - ...two houses... are "being considered" for White's "family". In other words, more of the same democrat welfare dependency. There's at least 13 votes for Ted Kennedy in the future in the White "household"...

She wanted her own football team.

You mean basketball team?

Right now she enough for a five-on-five with two coaches and a ref... If we don't end the welfare state/nanny state, she'll have her own league.

I predict more than one will end up there. And they forgot to mention she has no job and we are supporting her and her baby factory

There once was an old woman
Who lived in a shoe
She had so many kids
Her uterus fell out

''I got so many children it's a doggone shame," she said.

White, who like many evacuees was born in New Orleans and never left until she was put on a plane to Massachusetts, says that after her first four children were taken from her and a boyfriend slashed her with a razor, leaving a 3-inch scar on her face, she became deeply depressed. Even when she tried birth control, she said she still got pregnant, because she did not always take her medication.

White worked briefly as a nursing assistant while in her 20s, but soon went on welfare. She says she receives Supplemental Security Income benefits because she is disabled by depression and also gets help from Bannister, 53, a disabled longshoreman.

"unfortunately I'm not in a hurricane prone area so I guess I'll have to work for it."

Those of us who work and pay our bills need our heads examined. I am so sick of paying for other people's mistakes just because government can take my money at the point of a gun. It's time for Atlas to shrug, IMO.

That's my dream too, a big old house in Boston. Near John Kerry's if possible. That should run a pretty penny, do you think? But the libs in Boston, bleeding-hearts all, should be overjoyed to GIVE stuff away. Do you think???? In fact, they'll do that for a while and pretty soon they'll be conservatives. It might be really good for Boston.

Perhaps the Kennedy Compound can be opened as a place for all the refugees that love the area to have a permanent place to stay.

After all the Kennedy's are always talking about helping the homeless and unemployed.

Massachusetts is rapidly decaying into full scale socialism. She should love it there.
