It appears that some big fish escaped from N. Korea.

An earlier report on the same subjectmade the following report:

A source from Chinese security  revealed, "we are stepping up checks and searches to arrest an armed N. Korean soldier whose last name is Park. N. Korean authorities made a special request (to China.)" He added, "I have an impression that the fugitive is not just another armed deserter, but a senior officer or some other important figure."

Because of this, all over rural villages near the border, house-by-house search had been conducted until midnight, (Sept.) 28th. Temporary checkpoints were set up along the road leading from Long-jing to Yanji as of 10am, (Sept.) 29th.

As of 11am, (Sept.) 29th, Chinese securities continue to search for him, carrying his photo, without revealing his rank or unit.

Well, the name "Park" doesn't narrow it down much...

Interesting that China seems so interested in grabbing this guy too.

Re #10

He will be useful, regardless of China's relation to N. Korea, if he was an important figure.

It's a good thing them North Koreans and Chinese tend to be a mite smaller than us redneck Texans . . . because I couldn't fit my two year-old nephew in that Tonka-Toy Taxi.

Hell, that soldier can't be much over five-six and the taxi comes to his kneecaps.

Perhaps a key person involved with N. Korea's Nuclear program?

I think that you can give it to your kid as a Christmas present. It might fit under a large Christmas tree.:)

Maybe, he's carrying the one and only NK suitcase nuke?

Notice that the only nice vehicle in the pics is a police car? Ah, communist redistribution at its' finest.

If the Chinese are helping to look for him he may be a really big fish. Specifically big w/ their nuke program. He may have the dirt on Chinese aide to NK's weapons programs.

The part that I'm missing is why he went to China. If he were as important as it seems, I'd think he'd be able to get another way out that was more secure. What would cause him to flee to China? Deal with China that went sour? I just don't have a good feel for the politics over there to guess on the logic. Can anyone enlighten me or point me to a good site that has decent info on the situation?
