All the other ideas are forced on classes, why is this idea so different?? What the hell are they so afraid of? Somebody might believe in god?? Oh the horror.

Because in this case it is teaching the students concepts that are fundamentally dishonest. Specifically, it is teaching students that there is a "controversy" within mainstream biology with regards to evolution (there is not) and that Intelligent Design is a viable alternative scientific explanation (it is not scientific).
Would you consider it acceptable to teach holocaust denial as an "alternative" to popular historical beliefs?
