More on Immigration Choice
The Palm Beach Post has weighed in on the White House nomination of an "unqualified" candidate -- Julie Myers, 36 -- to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Part of the Department of Homeland Security, ICE has 20,000 employees and a $4 billion budget. I wrote about this last week. Myers is also DHS Chief Chertoff’s chief of staff’s daughter-in-law.

The head of ICE is required by statute to have at least five years of experience in both law enforcement and management.

She has no management experience.

The San Francisco Chronicle calls for Bush to withdraw her nomination, noting that the Agency's importance was highlighted yesterday by a report that "more illegal immigrants entered the United States last year than legal ones."

A report scheduled for release next month recommends that DHS merge ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), with 35,000 employees. DHS Inspector General Richard Skinner cautioned that maintaining the current separate structure "would likely. . . exacerbate operational and informational stovepipes that are now only emerging." Chertoff and Myers oppose the merger.

CBP Chief Robert C. Bonner announced today that he will resign in November.

How better to keep this under the thumb of an administration that WANTS more illegals than to put an inexperienced, manipulatable incompetent in charge - does Janet El Reno ring any bells?

I think he's been a good placeholder President, i love the guy, but Bush appears to be showing the clueless gene like his father.

Coulter had a good write up on his long string of bungling.

We need a true head banging conservative soon or its all over.

Agreed...but I still smell the GLOBAL AGENDA in all this. This country desperately needs conservative leadership or, we are toast. Washington is out of control - totally.

"I oppose amnesty, placing undocumented workers on the automatic path to citizenship. Granting amnesty encourages violation of our laws and perpetuates illegal immigration. America is a welcoming country, but citizenship must not be the automatic reward for violating the laws of America."

The Costs of the Mexico Agreement

The Social Security Administration (SSA) estimates that a totalization agreement with Mexico would:

  • Result in 50,000 additional Mexicans qualifying for social security benefits during the first five years;
  • Cost the U.S. social security system $525 million over the first five years;

  • Cost $650 million per year by 2050;
  • Have a "negligible long-range effect" on the Social Security Trust Fund; and
  • Save 3,000 U.S. workers and their employers about $140 million in Mexican social security and health insurance taxes over the first five years of the agreement

Granting amnesty encourages violation of our laws and perpetuates illegal immigration. --- GWB.
------
Hypocrisy - because he is staunchly in favor of the violation of those laws and illegal immigration...plain as that. And he will continue to support the rape of the American taxpayer and of our soverignty. All for politics and money.

This country may be toast regardless if some of the stuff that I've been hearing lately is probably true.

If this was the Clinton administration, the GOP party hacks would be all over it. Take yourself back to 1995: Could you imagine a Republican majority OKing a record-level, nondefense-related spending bill? It would be anathema.

Coulter had a good write up on his long string of bungling.

And I do love Ann Coulter. Now, I like her writing in the past few years, despite the repeated attempts to stand guard for the Bush administration--in lock step. She did it admirably and above all others. As of late, she seems to be doing just the opposite.

Conclusion: It could be that--gasp!--Ann is really a conservative!

<< [Ann] Coulter had a good write up on his long string of bungling.

Ms Coulter was too kind by far.

We need the restoration of representative government is what we need.

And term limits is the only way that'll ever happen.

Hell, even among those who habitually post here, there are practically no Republicans any more and buggar-all constitutionalists. Even most every FReeper wants to protect his section of the feral trough.

Just as even deLay eventually fell for the notion it's better to stay [In DC] and do well than it is to go and do Good.
