People are going to have a heck of a time walking over the desert to get out of California, given the likely destruction of roads.

Actually, they will be most likely moved by train, if large numbers are removed - cars wont be able to move on broken roads.

I used to live in Las Vegas (left for good 91, the gangs are running amok) anyway - One of the things we planned for was to leave town, for a while anyway, if the 'big one' hit cali...if you think about it, most of the food & all of the gas go to NV from CA and things would get pretty grim, fast.

There is like, what, 33 million living in SoCal alone - a disaster there would make NO look like a church picnic....

I guess that would hold pretty much true for any big city or population center, like Atlanta, Miami or the like.

At least the piece points up being ready to go on your own for 3 days, tho 3 weeks seems to the the better planning period.
