Race Cards: Charlie Daniels "SOAPBOX" Page

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton should be ashamed of themselves for what they did in New Orleans a few days ago.

Of course it was no surprise since they both tried to turn the whole deck into a race card, what’s so disgusting is their claim that the sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina was racially motivated

In the first place all one has to do to de-bunk their ridiculous statements is to go a few miles west to where the eye of the hurricane hit and the damage was unbelievable.

The area is predominantly white but did they get aid before the people in New Orleans? The answer is certainly not.

The truth of the matter is, in my view, I think the Mayor of New Orleans panicked. I think he just lost it; talking about ten thousand people being dead and doing what to me amounted to wringing his hands and not knowing how to confront the catastrophe.

The Governor of Louisiana refused to acknowledge the potential of the hurricane and did not call in the National Guard or call for an evacuation until it was too late.

F.E.M.A. and all the federal agencies have to shoulder some of the blame and it happened on George Bush’s watch so of course it’s his responsibility but he certainly has not hidden from the fact.

I sort of disagree with Charlie on this one.  There was a racial motivation in the response to Katrina.  I think we could all predict that the MSM would latch on to the "Poor Black People in Distress" story, so help that should have gone to the predominantly white counties of Pearl River (85%), Hancock (90%), Harrison (73%) and Jackson (75%) MS was diverted to the poorer areas of New Orleans.

 it was probably sarcasm)

I think you're right on that.
I personally delivered over half-a-ton of water and food in my RV-6 to Slidell and Bogalusa as part of an Austin-based mercy airlift. General aviation and volunteers like me provided the food, water, fuel and time to get relief to areas outside NO because they were not getting any attention from any level of government.

That was over five flights... for those who know an RV-6 only weighs 1,000 pounds itself...

Charlie Daniels is a Great American.

My mom sent me some urban legend letter the other day about the poor quality of people in the refugee centers in Houston. After debunking the letter (sort of) by Snopes, I sent her the following rant.

The accuracy of this posting has not been determined, however, Dr. Richard L. Johnston absolutely disavows any involvement. I kind of figured so since he was listed as being from Mississippi. As a doctor, I don't think he's got time to go skipping off to Houston to just sort of volunteer when Mississippi got hit much harder than Louisiana did.

That said, the black racism that has reared its ugly head in the last three weeks has become unbearable. Corruption and racism did more damage to New Orleans than any act of nature ever could. Formerly hushed politically correct conversations of black vs. white are now commonplace and are not discouraged. Thinking people are placing full blame at the feet of the local and state administration and the utter failure of the welfare system. The real reason that virtually all victims of the levee failure in New Orleans were black is simply because most of the people of New Orleans are black. Duh!

End of story. There is no racist subplot. Newsflash to Louis Farrakhan, white People did not blow up the levee, however, misspent federal money, intended for levee upgrades instead went to other "more important" projects.

Houston and Galveston did not survive Hurricane Rita because they were white, they survived because they had a plan and actually used the plan. Sure, there was a long traffic jam. No kidding, 2 million people went on vacation the same day, but they all made it to their destination and the roads were clear when Rita made landfall. Was the plan perfect, no, but they had a plan and they worked the plan. New Orleans had a plan and left it in the drawer. In reality, it has nothing to do with racism and everything to do with ignorance, stupidity, arrogance and the liberal mindset that politics trumps everything else.

The latest I heard is that a bunch of black "leaders" including several members of the Wayne County (MI)Commission are exploring the concept of BLEMA, the Black Emergency Management Agency. I'm sorry, but if these folks want to polarize America so much that rescue workers are only allowed to rescue "their own", their first disaster will be their absolute downfall.

The reality is that white Americans dropped everything and came to the immediate rescue of other Americans, mostly black to be sure, but Americans first. Because that's what we do.

Rant over.

Thanks for your service.

I've gotten to know a little bit about RV's over the last couple of years. Many of you guys are using one of my company's products to adhere the canopy to the frame, so as a tech guy, I've had to learn about what you're doing.

But he calmed down as soon as he got that fix for his jones. Three days without that fix will make ANYBODY go on Larry King and scream and cuss and blame and call people names.

Yea, some guy in Africa came up with the idea nad wrote an article about it in an RV magazine. Since then, I've probably talked to about 150 of you guys. I told our marketing folks that they couldn't hope to get a similar response from an ad that we actually paid for.

Yeah - it's a pretty big community, and the spillover to other plexi-on-a-frame canopy designs is pretty big too.
If you could convince Van that adhesive is the way to go, then be their supplier? $$$$$$!

They try to turn everything they can into a racial event. No big suprise. The intelligent people know what they are up too and ignore them, as they should.
