I'm wondering what will happen and how much it'll cost when the next hurricane/Category 4/5 hits New Orleans and Louisiana, generally.

Because, there WILL be more Cat 4/5, it's just a matter of a year or so, and then we'll have another $100 billion (inflation for next year or thereabouts) and more deaths and suffering...

Why not force the "City of New Orleans" to rebuild somewhere else? I cannot understand the huge costs involved in rebuilding a city beneath sea level, surrounded by an ocean, the Mississippi River and a huge lake, by a manmade levee system. It's absurd to consider sinking these amounts of billions of dollars, time and construction into the existing area of N.O.

I don't assume it will be rebuilt in such low areas. No one has signed off on any details yet. That will be a big consideration in any rebuilding..."Uhhhhhh, you say you want to build that WHERE?" I don't THINK so............LOLOL!

I thought the flood insurance was there for this. We had to buy flood insurance in the middle of the desert because we lived in an old flood plain. We didn't expect anyone to come rebuild for us if the worst happened - either we were insured or we lost out. I feel for those people. I know what it's like to have your world turned upside down; however, that's what insurance is for. They have renter's insurance, too.

Wonder if the taxpayers are going to rebuild a city for the eminent domain to click in and take it for resell to the highest bidder. We shouldn't be the insurance company - that's been in place.
