A pity. IMHO MS has been much more of a hindrance than a help in the development of software and the Internet. They have effectively stomped the competition down and only recently has their monopolistic grip been opposed effectively.

No way, as much as you may not like windows, it has served it purpose and has set us forward with one unifying system, that programers could see as a standard. Windows also brought millions of people to the internet. Not to mention MS's great office products.
