Barbara Lee is deeply saddened.

and who the heck were the 9 Republicans that supported this the first time around?

Sounds like a fine decision to me. I don't think the dems would want a post office named after David Duke either.

-9 on my last post.

Who were the Republicans that supported this the first time it was submitted?

WINNER JACKASS OF THE WEEK 2000

November 17, 2000 - And the winner is.....Maudelle Shirek! Vice Mayor of Berkeley, CA - Stalingrad of the Pacific. Ms. Shirek combines that city's bossiness with a brand of anti-tobacco fanaticism that causes real harm to impoverished senior citizens.

According to a puff piece in today's San Francisco Chronicle, Ms. Shirek enjoys globe-trotting to the world's dictatorships on behalf of the poor. She has dined with such luminaries as Fidel Castro. In her spare time she oversees a senior center where she has forbidden salt and sugar to her charges.

Her defining moment came when she could have scored a meal-on-wheels program for housebound senior citizens. She turned the donor down flat. Why? The benefactor was a tobacco company. Let the old folks eat cat food.

For the moral obtuseness that celebrates hobnobbing with dictators who murder their own people while rejecting a program funded by an American company that would have helped her constituents, Maudelle Shirek is a worthy recipient of the Jackass of The Week Award.

"Anderson had hoped to capitalize on growing disenchantment among those in Shirek's district who felt she did little to represent them. Her office had a reputation for not returning constituents' phone calls. And people whispered that she dozed off during council meetings."

House Republicans on Tuesday rejected a Democratic resolution to name a post office in Berkeley, Calif....saying 94-year-old Maudelle Shirek doesn't represent American values.

Silly old fashioned Republicans.

Don't they realize that American values have been dumbed down to mean ANY fool deviation, perversion or opinion? AFter all, diversity is a value!

If we ever have another terrorist attack here, the best possible place would be the campus of Berkeley. And then, thre needs to be an Al-Qaeda video afterwards saying that all American's are targets.

ahhh.

Barbara Lee is an embarassment to the State of California, and she's not alone: Barbara Boxer, Maxine Waters, Diane Feinstein - the list goes on and on.

Isn't Berkeley itself named after some sort of radical? I heard that some time ago but forgot the details. Google didn't come up with anything.

Perhaps one old Commie can do a fellow traveler a favor. Since she's Fidel Castro's bud, perhaps he can name a Cuban post office in her honor.

In an interview later he said Shirek had an "affiliation with the Communist Party," citing her sponsorship of a Marxist library.

Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., who sponsored the resolution, rejected King's comments as unsubstantiated innuendo.

I think my head is going to explode. Barbara Lee herself has an affiliation with the Communist Party, through her predecessor Ron Dellums and Fidel Castro, himself.

There comes a point where no lie is too big to tell.
