BEAUMONT, Texas Sep 27, 2005 — Residents of the Texas refinery towns hit hardest by Hurricane Rita were blocked from returning to their homes Tuesday because of the danger of debris-choked streets, toppled power lines and a shortage of ice and generators.
President Bush attended a briefing Tuesday by Texas officials in this port city to assess damage, including refineries knocked out of power by the storm. Bush then took an aerial tour of the Texas-Louisiana area where Rita came ashore last weekend.
In the devastated small towns of Jasper, Port Arthur and Orange, temperatures climbed well into the 90s again Tuesday. Local authorities begged federal and state governments for help.

Oh my god, 90 degree heat! How can these poor people stand such unbearable temperatures without immediate federal government ice and air conditioning!

Why aren't the shrimp boats in Port Arthur being used to make ice? That is what they are doing in Hackberry. They were immediately put to use after the storm passed through here.
I will say that the heat was something else but I made preparations for the storm. Whatever happened to making preparations ahead of time.
