No Joke: U.S. Loses Big at U.N.
Accuracy in Media ^ | September 27, 2005 | Cliff Kincaid

Posted on 09/27/2005 10:44:03 AM PDT by Millee

O'Reilly of Fox News has said that he was joking when he said on his radio show that he wished that a flood had hit the United Nations building in New York. A left-wing group called this "hate speech" and Tim Wirth of the U.N. Foundation demanded an O'Reilly apology. Perhaps we need fewer jokes and more factual reporting about the U.N. A recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found that two-thirds of the American people lack confidence in the world body, up from half, a decade ago. But despite the oil-for-food and U.N.-peacekeeper sex-abuse scandals, the world organization came out of its recent World Summit more powerful than ever.

I covered the event and may be one of the few journalists who actually read the 40-page World Summit document that President Bush and other world leaders endorsed. It demonstrates that the U.N. continues down the road to world government, financed by global taxes.

An objective review of the summit reveals that the U.N. lobby and its media allies got most of what they wanted. The question is why. Some suspect the State Department leaned on our new U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton to "compromise." Bolton's problems also include John Kerry's sister Peggy, who is employed by the U.S. Mission as a liaison to the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that constantly undercut the U.S. position on most foreign policy issues. Kerry, one of many career employees at the U.S. mission, took time off from her job last year to campaign for her brother for president.

Why we continue to support the U.N. is beyond me.

There are a large faction of people at the federal level that want golbal governance. George Bush, and the entire Bush family, are members thereof. The UN is the nuclus of that government, the "free trade" pacts being the foundation for the "need" for same.

Hey, most Americans want the borders closed, yet our politicians ignore that. Why would they pay attention to us regarding the UN.

I got an idea. Instead of spending our money on the UN, why don't we use it for disaster relief in New Orleans?

There is a need to reform the United Nations, but its continued vitality is basic to Isreal's legitimacy, so it must be continued as an authority on the world stage.

Exactly right.. and also the reason Bush is AWOL on the immigration fiasco.. America glutted by people that do not respect borders serve the globalist agenda... and water down americas bent for soverignty.. aka national identity.

Four years ago I wouldnt have believed that of Bush.. Bush's activitys don't seem strange in that light.. Kind of hard to face Bush being a Clinton(globalist) with family values.. but it seems to be true.. As he has gone out of his way to prove it.. Bolton at the U.N. is filigree or worse a diversion.. Bolton will change nothing.. Hes a diversion like chargeing Clinton with getting a blow job as president.. i.e. a diversion from Clintons real crimes.. Chinagate.. just one on a long list..

Republican sheeple, are still sheeple.. Free republic sheeple are of the same flocking mess..

"A left-wing group called this 'hate speech'..."

We identify the LEFT by their chronic pathological "hate speech" and smear&slander!

Makes me sick! Where are the RATIONAL REBUTTALS TO THE LEFTISTS' PSYCHOPATHICLY-CONCEIVED PROPAGANDA CLAIMS which the MEDIA broadcasts as VALID news throughout the world???

Okay: I "hate" the corrupt dysfunctional aristocratic United Nations Org. My animus qualifies me for being an unashamed patriotic American "Xenophobe."

Fine, "reform", just fine! BUT, U.S. citizens do NOT have to remain silent and uncritical in the blare of the U.N.'s antiAmerican "hate speech" and of its undermining efforts.

The UN is one of the worst steaming piles in a whole world full of steaming piles.

I wish to God it would pack its bags and link off to some other miserable spot on the planet.

When, O when, will it self-destruct?

Not until the US (i.e. US taxpayers) quits paying most of its bills.
