Send it anywhere you can think of.

I *still* can't believe Fox News isn't picking this up.

I relize your point.

I should have added ALL to my reply perhaps.

We all have subjects of the heart that get seriously stirred.

Mine just happens to be canines and the severely disabled. It's what I know all to well.

I sent it to KC Star -- that's their territory. If anything else comes to mind, I'll send it as well.

"Remember the quad young man who had his dog "rescued" by do gooders and he ended up getting his pooch back."

Another sad story

Shuma is at least in a loving home (it's a human grief problem, not a dog-grief problem).... so she's lucky.

Actually, we don't know that...

Today on a local talk show, Darla Jay, the host was speaking with the gentleman, and it seems that this woman was NOT on the up and up, and may have committed fraud. She told the man that her "husband" was an Independence, MO police officer, but when they checked, the PD had never heard of the guy. She also said that she was a volunteer working with the Independence PD K-9 unit, and that's suspect as well. She's accused the man of NOT being a hurricane evacuee, and that Shuma was abused. However, she's no longer talking to anyone, and refuses to release photos of "the abused" animal. There are some who believe that this woman was hanging out at the animal shelter in order to avoid the legal paperwork, and to ensure that the dog wasn't "fixed," in order to sell it to a "puppy mill."

There are a lot of questions here. I was previously of the belief that this guy made a bad decision, but there was nothing that could be done, since he signed the dog over. Now, because of the misrepresentations, there might be fraud involved. I now believe that the city or state should get involved here.

How about a breed that has existed for at least 7000 years, completely unchanged? >/i>

Elkhounds?

I heard from another friend on this thread who also reported that exchange on the talk show... We discussed it as best we can without being able to verify any of it.

Sounds to me like the witch-with-a-B wants money. Wonder if $500 would be enough to spring the dog?

Frankly, I think the answer is not to prohibit breeding, but to prohibit the sale of cats and dogs. We'd quickly find out how many breeders are "responsible people who really care about the animals and the tradition of the breed" -- I'd estimate less than 1% would continue breeding, if they couldn't sell the animals at a profit.

That would certainly be the end of a number of breeds. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to breed English Bulldogs? Between the artificial insemination, to the cesarian sections for delivery, these lovable little critters aren't exactly what you'd call "low maintanance." Still, I long for the day that I'll have the $1000-$1500 for a puppy, then the cash and time for 1 or 2 trips to the vet a month, but it will have to be after I retire, in order to be able to give them the time and love they require.

Yes, I admit it. I'm addicted to Bulldogs.

What a horrible story.
Thank God he got her back.

People think I'm weird because, in spite of a securely fenced yard, I won't let the dogs out unless I'm able to be standing in the yard -with- them, -watching- them the whole time.

[there's a rifle within easy reach]

Grab one of my dogs and your @ss is mine.

A couple years back, a guy in FL who drove up to buy a trike kit had his black Lab snatched right out of his fenced yard in broad daylight.

Ain't happenin' on my watch.

My beautiful baby is a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky/Chocolate Labrador cross. His father was half Malamute and half Husky. Mama was a thoroughbred lab. He takes after his Daddy more now, thank God! I have two elderly cats, and my late husband's 17 year old Sheltie. We kind of thought may be the Spitz in the back pen got to the Mama as Teddy's tail curled when he was young. :)

Both of my dogs are smarter than most people that I know.

My son and I saw the picture of the doggie you rescued from the terrible couple...we asked eachother, "What kind of dog is that?"
I said to him, "I think it must be a mix of breeds. Probably a pit bull, greyhound and maybe a great dane." :)

Jokes on us. And now we know of a whole "new" breed of dog=Ibizan Hounds

The irony? I'm probably one of the relatively few Americans who have actually visited Ibiza.
