He's not lying about that. I live in South Ms. and it IS the truth. I have always voted republican, but Gene Taylor is the only politician in office right now that will get my vote next time around.
And It's not because of today, it's because of all he did after the hurricane hit. He lost his home, his vehicle, everything. And unlike Trent Lott, he was not out having press conferences, he was out helping others,ie., going through neighborhoods helping to look for people trapped in their homes, helping people go through their debris to find whatever they could salvage.
The local media described him covered in dirt, cuts and scrapes, actually doing something. The one thing he said today that I agree with is this: He WAS there. Michael Brown was not.

That does not mean that Taylorknows what it was like to stand in Brown's shoes. Brown was forced into a command position where he lacked the authority/capacity to act.
