It wasn't just the "type face" but the time dilation factor ~ many of us here at Free Republic know a lot more about the printing business than is seemly, and when CBS tried to peddle current technology as old technology, it was too much.
This Mapes woman is exceptionally stupid. How did she ever get a job with even CBS?

"This Mapes woman is exceptionally stupid. How did she ever get a job with even CBS?"This was a rhetorical question, right? I think it is a requirement.

Time zones? We don't need no stinkin' time zones! We use a Rove Time Displacement Vehicle (RTDV) to transport ourselves up to 24 hours into the future. How else can Free Republic come up with such voluminous analysis in such short time unless we get the jump on events before they even happen?

many of us here at Free Republic know a lot more about the printing business than is seemly... The printing business, the military, any subject--it doesn't matter. The collective knowledge/expertise of 100,000+ individuals will dwarf any news bureau or collection of political hacks. Not every poster knows, but someone will have the resources or know where it can be found in order to get to the truth.
Conversely, any misstatements, half-truths or misinformation will be challenged. It's the ultimate in freedom of the press.

Getting a job in the MSM means being able to lie with a straight face and then swearing to it when you're caught.

This Mapes woman is exceptionally stupid. How did she ever get a job with even CBS?"Journalism" has always been the last resort for the terminally stupid.
Those unable to hack it in any real intellectual pursuit; the bottom of the gene pool; those with very high self-esteem and no smarts.
Personally I would be embarrassed to not know the difference between "peripheral" spacing (whatever that might be) and proportional spacing, no matter what profession I am in. and then compound the ignorance by publishing it in a book!

Y'got me. Her willful self-deception is remarkable, even for a leftist, even for a leftist journalist. Dan Rather is a "gentleman" because he only rarely uses the "F" word in the newsroom?? FreeRepublic.com is "politically angry"?? Oh, heavens, we wouldn't want any political anger, would we, Mary? Her five-year crusade to bring down President Bush resulted in a well-deserved, humiliating, public dumping by CBS. And she's STILL congratulating herself on the TANG "scoop".

I'd say "exceptionally stupid" is a resume requirement at CBS,ABC,CNN etc etc etc
(couldn't resist the cheap shot)
