ISLAMABAD: Ryan C Crocker, the US Ambassador to Pakistan, on Monday said that US President George Bush had accepted an invitation by President Pervez Musharraf to visit Pakistan. However, he said the schedule of the visit would be finalised later.
Talking to reporters during a programme arranged by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the US ambassador said that President Musharraf had invited President Bush to visit Pakistan during his stay in the US. He said that President Bush would also visit India and he might go to Afghanistan as well before or after his stay in Pakistan. He also praised the Pakistan Red Crescent Society for providing relief for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Very gutsy.
Or maybe stupid.
A little too gutsy for my liking
Like moths to a flame...a troll takes the bait.
If Musshie has Binnes head on a pike when he goes I am all for it.
Say Zawahiri....to present as a gift....:-)
That was exactly what I was thinking.
Mushe has been playing us for some time, but he is going to have to make ISI show that it is doing something in the War on Terror again.
Sorry, but I do not want to see the President blown up on a trip to Pakistan. Hopefully, this trip never happens.
Very gutsy...
This is not Musharaf's idea to invite Bush. This is the mother of all set ups.
Details soon.
He isn't going to be blown up. Trust me ISI will make sure Bush is totally safe in Paksitan.
Just kidding.
But, truth be told, this is a brilliant move on the presidents part and makes certain that we will get at least one big name capture in the next couple months out of Pakistan. Also, I am certain the president will be safe.
Don't be suprised if this turns out to be a quid pro quo and Pakistan opens diplomatic relations with Israel.

This is such BS - And I mean that with no personal disrespect - But you simply don't understand the Afghan/Pak border region - You don't understand the local customs - You don't have a real/true concept of the terrain - You don't understand the whole of the Ops at catching someone like this -
The ISI can't catch UBL / Zawahiri on their own - They simply don't have the the wherewithal nor the equipment nor the experience of shooters (without getting lucky).
Again, why don't we just catch Zarqawi in Iraq (to prove we are doing something in the WOT) - We control 90% + of Iraq, we have over 150,000 (avg) U.S. Soldiers there, we have support of the newly elected Gov't, etc, etc, etc - Yet the man remains at large -
We are going to capture / kill both UBL and Zarqawi by continuing to conduct the very Ops we are - slowly gathering Intel, while at the same time continuing to shorten our OODA loop (through a variety of ways) -
The notion that the ISI could but guns on UBL in short order is ridiculous.

(my mistake - should have read "put" not "but" in the post above)

Sorry, but I have heard from too many people that think ISI is playing games with us. I don't go as far as Gary Schroen or some people like the UPI press people that went to Pakistan reciently (article below) in that unlike them I don't believe they know exactly where he is. But, I do strongly believe they play a game with al-Qaeda in Pakistan of not rocking the boat too hard, meaning they are willing to do things to chip away at the network, but for political reasons they don't go after them anywhere near how I would like.
For the most part you have heard from a bunch of people who have never been on the ground and actually in the hunt - So in other words you've heard from a bunch of *pundits* who don't have a clue about what they are talking about - And who's job is to speculate - Yes Gary Schroen was in the hunt but he likes to talk about what he thinks now, not back then...and I'll leave it at that. It's incredibly easy when your past words/thoughts are classified.
The UPI pukes (in that article) their comments and speculation are so ill contrived it isn't even worth discussing - Their silly suggestion that they know he has a " portable dialysis machine" is laughable -
This is a silly/phony MSM driven falsehood regarding UBL (just as the fake rapes the MSM shouted about supposedly taking place in the SuperDome have proved to be) - UBL does not need a dialysis machine - OGA's long ago (late 90's) dispelled that rumor).
As for the ISI knowing where UBL is - Yep, they do as much as we do - He is in the autonomous Afghan / Pak / India / China border region!! - And they don't have a chance in hell of locating him on their own -
Again, the notion that the ISI (or Pak Gov't) could put guns on UBL in a short period of time is absurd -
Does the ISI have some al Qeade sympathizers - They most certainly do - Does that in turn mean they are directly supporting UBL on the run (of course not) - Does that mean those sympathizers could catch UBL if they wanted to? (of course not!).
The region UBL is eking out a survival in is autonomous from not only the Pak Gov't but from the ISI as well (to a large extent).
The ISI has a long history of not being able to operate in the tribal regions of Pakistan - Operate in any coherent / effective way that is - (not just since UBL has been on the run - long before)
Do we want the Pak military to do more? Yes! (We also want about every other ally to do more as well, and most aren't).
But again, the notion that if Musharraf really wanted he could get UBL or Zawahiri is just ridiculous - And those speculating that don't have a clue about how this hunt is going -
There are reasons Mr. Goss knows the general region UBL is in?? - There are reasons after around April 2002, the CIC and SecDef were aware that UBL was indeed alive and not dead (as possibly assumed). There are reasons we wish the Pak military would do more (but at the same time understand they probably couldn't catch UBL on there own).
But you have to read between the lines some to see the real facts -
DevSix - what do you think about the President's decision to visit Pakistan?
