ore than 50 University of Florida students protested in front of the Independent Florida Alligator Friday upset about an editorial cartoon the student newspaper ran Tuesday.
The students - who were mostly black - marched down W. University Avenue armed with signs that read "Respect for All" and "No More Alligator" before loudly voicing their dissent in front of the student newspaper's headquarters.
Andy Marlette's cartoon shows black rapper Kanye West, who two weeks ago said President George W. Bush doesn't care about black people at a fund-raiser for Hurricane Katrina victims, holding a playing card labeled "The Race Card" while standing next to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. KANYE WEST is advising his white counterparts that they can only use certain slang terms when they're out of style for black people.
The JESUS WALKS rapper - who recently charged that US President GEORGE W BUSH "doesn't care" about African Americans - believes that certain slang words should only be able to cross racial barriers when they're no longer in style for black people.
He says, "I think white people are allowed to say 'bling'. They are allowed to say old-school black slang, like 'hottie' and 'homie'.
"Actually, I do not think that (white people) are allowed to use slang until it is at least a year old. If you say a slang word too early, it's like you're trying to be black. So as long as the slang is a little played out, you're all good.

You mean I can say "homie" now? Finally! Maybe soon Kanye will give me permission to start inserting "z"'s in the middle of every other word. I can't wizait!

More thoughts from a racist. I wonder if Chinese people are allowed to use the slang before it's "out of style"

Spending more than 15 minutes would surely open their followers eyes to the stupidity their mouths spout forth.

I wonder what percentage of criminals get caught by police because their pants fell down around their ankles while they were fleeing.

With that rationale, I guess we can use the N-word since they've certainly worn that one out.

Actually, I do not think that (white people) are allowed to use slang until it is at least a year old.I guess this means since dictionary.com describes the original term "nigger" as "offensive slang", and it's definitely at least a year old... Kanye's stuck on stupid!

I've been called the word Condi called West in the first cartoon. All I said back was "I've been called many things in this place, but that's a first".

How is it that some of the black race, who have trouble even assimilating into mainstream America, feel they can direct "proper" linguistic orders to others?
They may continue their assault on decency, intellect and civilized manners without any support from me. And gee ... I hope they will excuse this white man for ignoring them. Should they not, they can stuff it!

Ya need to walk before you can run... A 25-year-old man was arrested in Lynchburg, Virginia, and charged with possession of cocaine after a brief chase. Police caught up to him after he tripped on his low-riding baggy pants, fell, and fractured his femur. And, a 39-year-old man, running from a stabbing in Philadelphia with a bloody knife in his hand, was captured following a foot chase; he had turned his head to see where the officers were and ran smack into a parking meter. (If you cant make good time, dont do the crime.)

I think the cartoon was tacky from the start. I'll not understand why some think it's funny to see Condi Rice using slang she'd never use.

Marlette said he intended nothing "racist" with the cartoon that shows one prominent black leader calling out another.
Marlette said the term "Nigga" is a common phrase used today and was borrowed from popular rap lyrics, including those in West's songs, and comedy routines by black comedians such as Cedric The Entertainer.
"I can picture a black woman saying that to a black man," Marlette said.
*Really? I've lived around all different kinds of black people and don't expect this. Marlette has some issues.
