Now if only more stations started dropping hip-hop all would be well.

Considering the sad state of rock music these days, no big loss.

At least Chicago is still blessed with a Classical music station. From what I understand even New York doesn't have a single full time classical music station.

There's plenty of good rock n roll still being made, you just can't find it on the radio or TV.

Hasn't this station made a few format changes in the past few years. I think this used to be WLS fm at one time. I'm sorry, the music radio in Chicago sucks and it always has. I bet i can turn on the radio right now and hear More than a Feelin' or some overplayed Nirvana song. Music radio drove me to talk fifteen years ago.

Misleading headline. "Chicago Rock Radio Station Plays Oldies Due to Lack of New Rock Material"
To: Borges
I think satellite radio, IPods, etc are making FM music stations obsolete. Now you can basically choose the music you want to hear, why put up with all that other crap.

This is a problem? At least Oldies appeal to someone...

When I see those geezers from The Who blow people half their age off the stage at Live 8, that's when you know modern rock has nothing to offer.

I believe there are two stations: WFMT and WNIB but I haven't listened for several months so who knows.
To: My Favorite Headache
I assume they still have the Loop as a classic rock station? I don't get up their much anymore.

I am an XM kinda guy myself...regardless...Satellite Radio blows em all away.

At least it is an English-language switch. In Dallas, format changes these days tend to be from English to Spanish.

The Killers, U2, Pink Floyd, and Dave Matthews Band were pretty damn good that day as well.

Why would a class-less city need classical music?

"Rock radio has taken yet another hit on the chin ..."
What is rock radio anymore?
It seems to me the Rock music is the Oldies now.
So what is going to be the big change with this station?
