He should sue to change the name of the city! :-) Talk about dumb. But they think that religion is just a matter of symbols identifying "faiths. " Depend on them to do something like making the Red Cross remove the cross from its "flag."

Note to the ACLU: It's not that folks don't like you because they don't understand you, it's that they don't like you because you're a dumb a$$!

City officials cannot provide any historical documentation to back its claim that the crosses represent the history and people of the city, the lawsuit alleges."Las Cruces's name (Spanish for "the crosses") has been a disputed topic amongst historians. The most common theory is that in 1830, there was an Apache massacre of a party of nine travelers, including a Mexican Army General, a Priest, and five choir boys. Only one choir boy survived the massacre, and buried the other, marking the graves with three crosses. The area became known as "El Pueblo del Jardin de Las Cruces.""

This one is ludicrous. But, following the logic of the ACLU, does the City of LA have angels on its corporate seal?

"The crosses serve no governmental purpose other than to disenfranchise and discredit non-Christian citizens," said the lawsuit filed by Paul F. Weinbaum, who lives in the Las Cruces area, and Martin J. Boyd of Las Cruces. D'OH!
Well, they better amend that complaint to change the name of the city and any reference to "Las Cruces", because "Las Cruces" means...
Ta Dahhhhhh!
...the crosses...

Next thing you know, the ACLU will petition that the name "Christopher Columbus" be eliminated from public-school textbooks on Establishnment Clause grounds, since his name in Italian, Cristoforo Colombo, means "Christ-bearing colonizer."

They better change the town's name as well. Come to think of it a lot of towns will have to change their name's. You never know how insidious the plot to make America a Theocracy truly is till you look at a map. San Fransico,
Saint Paul, Los Angeles, San Antonio, just to name a few.
It will take time but the effort will be well spent.

The city of Las Cruces' official emblem has three crossesWon't they have to petition next to change the name of Las Cruces, lest just one more poor atheist be forced to hear the word 'crosses'?
Hurry, aclu, erase all vestiges of our Judeo-Christian culture and heritage so as not to 'offend' the few. The trials of rapists and molesters and murderers and resources and court time to punish them can be pushed asided to make room for this 'real' crisis. *eyeroll*

"The crosses serve no governmental purpose other than to disenfranchise and discredit non-Christian citizens," said the lawsuit filed by Paul F. Weinbaum, who lives in the Las Cruces area, and Martin J. Boyd of Las Cruces. No logo in any city or town anywhere serves any governmental purpose. If that's the basis for the suit, it should be thrown out, with extreme prejudice. The blood-sucking attorneys who filed it should be disbarred and run out of town on rails.

"The crosses serve no governmental purpose other than to disenfranchise and discredit non-Christian citizens,"
What if your city has a bear on its seal? Has it alienated all non-bear citizens?
How can this ludicrous claim possibly hold up in court? How can anyone prove they've been harmed by an image of a cross? I guess Satan's bothered by it: it's the symbol of his defeat.
I've gotta stop reading this stuff, it makes me too irritated.

Maybe they can force the city to change it's name while they're at it too!
After all, doesn't "Las Curces" mean "Those Crosses?" (or something like that?)
