Why is it news that this man said "screw the Nano"

It's news because the comment would indicate just how out of touch the guy is with one of the most profitable markets on the planet.

Partly because the ROKR mentioned here is a competitive product to the Nano though not exactly a direct competitor. I would think that the prime area of contention between the Motorola management and the Apple folks is that Apple has said they will be moving away from Motorola's cpu chip architecture and to the rival Intel cpu chip architecture. That is a major loss to the Motorola bottom line, and I see it as the source of these remarks. Of course, I may be totally wrong about that.
