The realizations are sickening. The indoctrination camps continue to produce mind-numbed liberals at an alarming rate.

The Frankfurt School, Marxists hiding as Democrats and the NEA are the primary culprits in this decades-old power ploy.

An interesting and thought-provoking post. Thanks.

I used to be one of those liberals kids from the 60s and 70s. Now I am a conservative. How did that happen? Simple. I had to meet a payroll. Mine.

These kiddos will be just fine once the real world gets a hold of them.

Meanwhile, my college now urges its freshmen to become good citizens "of the world." The greatness of our nation is never, ever mentioned. For some reason, many profs think patriotism is the intellectual equivalent of knuckle-dragging. How odd. They get to have the freedom to utter whatever they wish, but will not defend it - neither in word nor in deed. Just another group of moaners, groaners and whiners. That's all they are.

Thanks for this article
I have returned to school and I am both sickened and mad at the unbeliebveable leftist proproganda of the textbooks and the teachers

However I fight back!

I decided to write my own little notes inside the margins of textbooks that I sell back, I challenge the teachers outright in class and I write all my papers from a conservative viewpoint.

It doesn't effect my grade because I do good work!

I wonder if the Internet can do for education what it is doing for the analysis of public affairs on FR and others. Homeschooling may not stop at 12th grade, but continue on in a pure online mode.

It's not a coincidence that these schools which are brainwashing students into thinking government is the answer to everything, are financially surviving only because of massive and indiscriminate government subsidies of students. This effectively eliminates parents from making the decision of where or if to send their offspring to college, and what courses of study will meet parental requirements for continuing to finance the endeavor. The result is that content of college courses and requirements for graduation are determined by popular vote of a bunch of clueless and easily swayed kids, who are quickly indoctrinated durign their first semester by leftist professors and administrators. Even parents who pay the full tab are sucked into the prevailing college culture. Virtually all colleges now formally advise parents of incoming freshmen that "it's time to let go, don't try to be too involved in your child's college life, s/he needs to start making his/her own decisions, yadda yadda". The real message here is: Hand over the money, and get out of the way, while WE decide what your child should learn over the next four years.

How did the left take over schools?

Those who CAN - DO!
Those who CANNOT - Teach!

disclaimer:

That is a general rule and NOT to be taken for all teachers, etc etc etc..... (for the lawyers and their MASTERS in black robes)

I went to college as a moderate-to-liberal 18 year old.

By the time I ended my first year, I was rabidly conservative (even more so than now - age has a way of moderating views).

Why? Because I realized that the liberal kooks on campus stood for nothing. They lied outrageously and were never questioned about it. They did far more harm than good, and promoted ridiculous double standards.

My freshman 'indoctrination' had the ridiculous statistic (promoted by campus feminists) that '1 in 4 women on campus are raped every year'. It was a four year school.....do the math. I think that was the eye-opener for me, but there were plenty of other stories to come.

In general, I think that most college kids, given a good upbringing, will 'see the light'. Others will 'find it', when they get hit in the face with the reality of fulltime employment and confiscatory taxes. Most of the rest will stay safely ensconced in academia, and the newsroom of the NY Times.

Eventually, society will recognize and understand what a poor caliber of individual the modern college education produces. At that point, university tuitions will be considered a waste of money. That occurs when corporations and government agencies recognize the fact that they are better off training their own personnel rather than accepting university degrees as a vouchsafe for the competence of the individual. It's a few years off, but it will eventually happen.

This weekend the radio was tuned to Dr. Dean Edell.....he was talking about a Starbucks somewhere in the NE I think, who was printing some GAY GUYS thoughts on its cups - and I guess it was at a University.....anyway, people were up in arms, and his thoughts (spoken) were....."Well, I thought this was what Universities were for.....to be exposed to everything." (or something like that). ME...I thought Universities were places of LEARNING, not EXPOSURE....

With the rise of the university, political theories and programs were increasingly devised by academics... who operated outside the arena of electoral politics and whose experience was of a far different kind. The reliance on experts introduced into liberal ranks a permanent ambivalence regarding representative government and the common man--for while the experts purported to act in the name of the people, they also understood that it was a grave risk actually to seek their consent or approval.

This elitism is readily apparent. They don't even try to hide their disdain for anyone with an opposing view.

It's as if academic (intellectual) elites are at war with the other sources of power and influence in society, namely, business and religious leaders. For their power bases, these elites join forces with Union leaders, artists, entertainers and people in the lower classes (who they can easily control).

Spend a hundred grand to give your kids a college education, and at the end, you will likely have a little bisexual communist eco-nut who hates "Amerika" and your guts.

Sheesh. How did we get to this point?
