I love how the Boston Globe feels it necessary to put hero in quotation marks. Classy.

The editorial board of the Globe saves the unequivocal term hero for folks they consider "real" heroes, such as Ted Kennedy. /sarcasm

I emailed the author and asked her about it.Haven't heard back yet (well, it IS Monday!) but I suspect the answer about the punctuation will have to do with the pilot being quoted. A single quotation mark (') is used to enclose a quotation within a quotation. What the larger quote was is obscure and takes too much of this reader's time to discern, so the headline writer gets a bad mark in my book.

It was a good story.

How often do other freepers actually click on the link and read the whole story? I usually do...sometimes it saves me from removing my foot from my keyboard!
