What are your risks and what are your preparations? Every dead body in the hurricane zone has an excuse. Did they have a plan? Lets hear what you got.

Well, the first thing I'm going to do is try to get the phrase "What are you gonna do?" from constantly repeating itself in my head.

Well I thought I was going to get to test my survival preparations this week but I didn't even loose power.
Maybe next time things will be worse.

I've pretty much done all I can. I don't live in a major metropolitan area so I have nothing to fear from either rampaging welfare hoardes or rampaging soccer moms. I have a handful of guns, and the ammunition to put in them. I have a small 4x4 Jeep (off road capability), a motorcycle (great gas mileage), and a paid off house. I have an ample supply of canned fruits and vegetables. That's the key, as you can hunt meat.
Beyond that, it's up to the Almighty.
Of all the things I've mentioned, moving out of a major metropolitan area may be the most valuable.

Why should I care if some dumb ass in Texas dies because they didn't get out of the way ? I'm not asking you to. I'm asking you what are you gonna do if you're the dumbass in texas.

On thing I am lucky about is that I live in MI and don't have to experience hurricanes or earthquakes. We can get tornadoes, but I've never been involved in one.
This is a good article, however, and I have to admit we aren't that prepared for an emergency. Something to think about ... that's for sure.
Thanks.

"Bet the store employees aren't looking foreward to stock day right now."
Taking you too literally, I know...It's a hundred times easier to stock an empty shelf than one that's 3/4 full. I worked my way through college working the 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. Safeway shift...and rotatin' existing stock is the pits.
If the shelf is empty...you just slam it up there.

I keep a case of MRE's and 5 gallons of potable water at all times. Ya have to change the stuff out every once in a while, but being prepared is worth it. Next year I plan on purchasing a couple of pistols and a shotgun, again just in case.
