I have a VHS camcorder.. but no battery or charger.
Dunno where either went.
And there is a tape still in the camcorder.

Saw some wonderfully silly stuff my dog did, wish I'd taped it, cried because I didn't.
I know what you mean.
The only videos I have of my old girl are ones that the motion-detector bird cam took when she was out in the yard.
They're awful quality but I cherish them just the same.
