Thousands abandon their homes because of 20 stinkin' lions? Do they really need the govt to come in and take care of the problem for them? I hear the Massai are pretty good at hunting lions.

Lions disturbed by deforestation What I don't understand is why the lions, a plains/savannah animal, were protesting deforestation. I had no idea lions were such enviromentalists.
"The lions killed shepherds tending cattle and villagers after breaking into their houses,"
They did a public service, executing criminal shepherds, who were breaking into the villagers' houses, and then herding kidnapped villagers. Wouldn't be surprised if the cattle were also stolen from the villagers.

Do you think that the lions might have been drunk if they could sleep during all that singing?

" Lions are open-country predators. They do not live in the forest. They live in the plains and desert. So how is deforestation supposedly effecting them?"That was exactly my first thought when I read this!
Obviously, the "reporter" is a Greenie Activist. I would love to have him substantiate his claim.

Lions disturbed by deforestation have killed 20 people and devoured 750 of their domestic animals in Ethiopia, a local news agency said on Tuesday. Most lion's I have talked to in the past have explained their frustrations in detail with their concerns about deforestation and going by their in depth concerns as roared to me, I have found that a constant intake of "meat" overrides their concern for deforestation.
I really don't think that those 20 people were devoured because of the deforestation, I just think that the lions found a good chunk of meat in a conservative and let nature take it's course.

Shortly after seeing "The Ghosts in the DArkness" we went to Chicago and saw the stuffed lions which killed the people of Savo. They were 2 maneless male lions. Looked small to me. They were not impressive like the lions depicted in the movie. Apparently they did the killing though.
