"Lions disturbed by deforestation "

Of course. Why else? Couldn't be because lions are wild predators and they were hungry?

"Lions are open-country predators. They do not live in the forest. They live in the plains and desert. So how is deforestation supposedly effecting them?"

The cowardly lion lived in the forest....lions and tigers and bears oh no!
