Whaaa! I don't like Bush. Whaaaaaaa. And the "Conservative" Establishment wonders why they keep losing the PR wars and the agenda is stuck in neutral. Do they ever write about the absolute wackos ruining the DNC? Ever write about the utter lies being spewed by the Left about Iraq, Katerina, Social Sec etc etc etc? Ever write about why we need a more Conservative Justice, why the Dems are in disarray? Not just day after day yet another stupid "Conservative" wasting his column whining at Bush and giving the Hysteric Left Propaganda aid and comfort. There really are two party's in American. The Evil party and the STUPID party.

The neocons didn't oppose the welfare state per se.Then the heck with 'em.
In 2003, President Bush proclaimed, "We have a responsibility that when somebody hurts, government has got to move."
Government should then move to some place like, say, France.

defend the shores, deliver the mail - Protecting the lower Missippi from being destroyed by the incompetent hacks of NO is important to the economic security (defend the shore) of America. If building a few homes with the help of Habitat for Humanity gives workers a place to live in a vital part of our economy then so be it.
Goldberg held one job in his life as a grammer school teacher - overseas - then all the rest is about think tank work. How does this qualify him to tell the working people what needs to be done in life? I'm getting just as sick of right wing media dogs as the MSM.

Conservatism, rightly understood, never needed the adjective ["compassionate"].That's what I thought when I took my screen name . . .

I see the pro-Bush apologists constantly defending the continuing degradation of true conservatism by trying to describe the opposition as far worse. It's what I call "the prisoners' argument."
"Yes, we're bank robbers, but at least we are not rapists like those guys."
There's not much pride in boasting you are slightly less rotten than the other guys.

It all comes down to what you believe "compassion" means. I don't think it means giving money to people all the time. But that's just me.
