I've got a 1950's era Hawthorne Warrior from Sears. .22LR. With a crappy old Tasco scope, Windage doesn't work... use hammer on scope body to change it, it'll still hold about a 1" group with no wind at 100 yrds using Federal Spitfire's or Winchester Super-X.

I'd recommend picking up a few boxes of Super-X ($2 per 50). 40 gr. Should produce around 1200 fps out of a 16" barrel.

Are you still in New York? Be glad you can still find a range at all up there. I can ask around and see if there is anything else in your neck of the woods if you want...

Hi Guys!

Just stopping by briefly, in between errands.

I've never seen swarms of ladybugs ever. Our church used to have a colony that would swarm in the spring. I'm told that the local gardners would come and literally scrape them off the building into pint containers to take back to their gardens.

I think due to old powder the Remington Thunder rounds weren't even doing 1200 fps, which supposedly they do.

I'll see if I can grab a bunch of Super-X.
Local spoprting goods stores carry .22 rifles, but not much by the way of ammo for 'em.
(Not make sense.. does not compute.)

Yup, still in NY.
The range is 28 miles away in NJ.
Luckily, the park service guys who keep an eye on the place don't mind guns, and have had plenty of stuff fired there from small .22shorts to .50 cal.
Sign says 'rimfire and blackpowder only', but it isn't enforced to anal retentive precision.
