Flip had a point. He was acknowledging the misbehavior, but not accepting any blame.

That is at least more forthright than simply admitting something happened, but claiming no personal knowledge of the events.

Yes, that's true. The way certain people avoid saying, "I decided not to (whatever action)," you'd think they were going to be struck by lightning if they declared independence from Forces Beyond My Control.
