That's a very pretty picture fanfan. :-)
Yeah. Mentoring people is a lot like torturing people, except that you have all the pain, and they get the benefit of the information.
We can ask Tax-Chick, when she wakes up, if home-schooling amounts to mentorturing.
I think I'll go to bed now. It looks as though my "Day" is done.
Welcome back, 'Face. :-)
Well, you do have good advice and inspire pople.
Great word!
Good night, Bob!
Probably.
Thanks, Tulip!
I missed you, too! :o]
Thanks...I try never to "give advice" because most often, those who give it should take it, instead. I prefer to "make suggestions."
And if I can "inspire" someone, that's a good thing. I just never thought of myself as a "mentor" on here...that's a pretty awesome thing for someone to be...
I myself don't think that I am a mentor of any kind.
Once in a blue moon I am told I inspire people.
Though, admittedly, I usuall inspire them to madness and typos...
It hit home yesterday when I took the day off -- in part 'cuz I *really* needed time away from the office and in part because the goodwife had finally returned home late the night before from back East.
Had two "fun" home computer projects to take on that had been sitting around for a while. Got one done this morning after much wrangling over one small detail that just wouldn't go right. Got started on the second, but had to drop it to head out to the party for the local Free Republic chapter (in a good cause!).
But it's got me seriously thinking about finding a new job. The fit here, never good for the past five years, is not getting any better.
It's sort of a love poem to all the girls I could have loved, except for some very lousy reasons.
Thank you for the ping, Bob.
Seems like, if you got a new job, you might still be able to write some articles. You seem to enjoy that.
Isaac Asimov used to do that too, and I'm convinced he had fun at it.
One thing for sure, you fit here on the Undead Thread!
Dang, sion...if your job becomes drudgery, you need to be doing something else. For the last year, I've sensed that you are not happy where you are.
Of course, I'm an outsider, so I "know all and see all" but as a friend, I wouldn't dare to suggest you do anything you haven't already thought of!
I "enjoyed" my trip to Vegas, but I was VERY anxious to get home. I even had some dork try an proposition me on the way to Vegas! LOL! (Reminded me why I'm single...)
Bob...I know you have never written a poem for me, but that one came pretty darn close...
It even sounds like some of the prose I've written...
I do. Articles explaining this technology so users can understand it are kind of fun. Especially when, even years later, I continue to hear from people how articles reaching back to '97 have helped them grasp what it is they are dealing with. But I had a plan for the next dozen or so to fill out the set, and if I leave those will never be written.
(And I can't count the times I've been asked for my signature by young women engineers, usually Asians. Of course, at my age they're all young...)
Never mind, then.
I'll be your mom.
But I want a hug every day. Mandatory.
;o]
Do you have any idea how f***** busy I am?
"...Of course, at my age they're all young...)"
I've noticed that about men, too...
There was a comic strip when I was a kid...(actually just a block)...called "Born Too Soon." I didn't understand it then, but I sure do now!
