A few years ago Canyon Lake (west of New Braunfels) flooded and the spillway was "used" for the first time. I don't think they realized what the results would be. Over 800 homes were damaged or destroyed and the water carved a gorge.

That happens....there was an earthen dam failure out in...montana....nevada....can't remember the name... a big one....but search it up if anyone here remembers it...the pics are stunning.

Amazing. Right through the limestone bedrock. Around where I live, we generally have to wait about 10,000 years for new gorges to be cut.
