My dad just sent me 3 pictures of a huge crocodile found swimming in the streets of New Orleans. I knew crocodiles live in Florida, but I was surprised to hear they live in Louisiana and even more that one this large. I don't know how to post pictures, but if someone will email me and provide an email address I will forward the pictures. It's a shame this beast did not take care of some of the looters.

They have one of the biggest alligator farms in the US down there. The french were really upset when they heard about the storm because that's where they get the skins for belts, shoes and purses.

Leave it to the french to not worry about the people, just the alligators.

The NO croc is a crock!

That is an African Croc. Snopes is your FRiend!

OTOH, a looter-eating croc in NO would have been interesting news, fer shure, fer shure!

That would be an alligator. Here in Texas, we have quite a few of them.

I got the same email. That thing was huge! Never saw one that large. Sent it to hubby and daughter when they were at work either Thursday or Friday.

Latest estimates say there are about 1 million gators in Louisiana but only a handful of crocs, all in zoos.

do you mean alligator? Crocodiles have long narrow snouts, alligators have very broad ones.

And we have them all the way up to Texas! the Brazos Bend State Park here where I live is rife with them, and earlier this year, some people in Matagorda county found a 14 footer in the local creek there.

cheers,
Alkhin
