If I'm on the list, cross me off too. I'm just here because I have family in the area, want to support FRiends and because I chase hurricanes:').
Thanks Cindy, I didn't have you on the list, but I sure do welcome the bumps.
My husband was upset with me when I didn't leave Houston early on Wednesday--the traffic was a nightmare by that afternoon. He decided we'd go to Jackson, MS, and stay with his oldest son and his family, so we got here early Thursday morning.
I didn't realize how difficult it would be to drive off from everything you own!
We had very little traffic troubles at 11:30 at night. We drove through Beaumont and Lake Charles--not realizing they were going to be hit. We'll have to go home through Shreveport. It seems we're gonna have to take back roads.
Two friends who stayed in the Crosby area checked our house and said everything was perfect, but there's no electricity. One friend said she saw broken windows on the main street of our neighborhood, though. She said her un-insured barn took a big hit, but she and her five kids were fine. Looks like we may still need to find a generator.
we got hit with hight winds and some heavy rain up here in Jackson, MS :) it's moving north into Arkansas.
I've contacted Santa Rosa Downtown and Northwest along with Southwest General Hospital in San Antonio. No sign of her there. I assume their are more hospitals in the area. I don't mind making the calls if I have names of places to contact.
Thanks a bunch.
Thank you, prayers are always welcome and helpful.
I have a 4 page list of hospitals provided by St. Elizabeth's Hospital where patients were evacuated. I've called everyone on the list but can't find her. None are in Laredo though. Any ideas of which hospitals might have taken in evacuees?
Maybe she is on her way back then. If not after you go thru the list call and ask for the director of nurses at the hospitals and explain what happened and see if they can help you. I know it's stressful but where ever she is, I'm sure someone is taking very good care of her.
Thanks, I was wondering what happened to it. Seems like the prognosticators were wrong again, thank God.
I just called the huricane assistance info number here and the poor gal, bless her heart, wasn't much help.
She said I needed to call the Red Cross but she also said that there are THREE Christos St. Elizabeth Hospitals with three different addresses listed IN Beaumont.
I have a feeling that if she's on one of those military airplanes, as bad as it is and sounds, information from the military about what they're doing right now just might not be real forth coming.
Hang in there. Your in my prayers and I'm still working on it, ok?
I'm still here; We didn't get anything more interesting than a little bit of (very welcome) wind and a bright blue sky...What a gyp.
prayers for you and all your neighbors. Love you lonestar!!!!
That's great news. Everyone is so diappointed at the lack of rain, but think of what it could have been. After Katrina, the thought of Houston and Galveston underwater was pretty frightening.

Anyone know if the power is still of in parts of Houston?
