We can surmise a couple of items from this reversal, especially given the hostility that Shaffer showed towards the Pentagon as a result of the initial cancellation. First, the gag order had little to do with ongoing operational security. It would take much more time than 72 hours to secure personnel and intelligence, and if the Pentagon still had those assets in operation, the witnesses would remain gagged. That means the Pentagon pulled the witnesses for some other reason.

I agree entirely! What I DON'T get is the tireless continuing effort to keep the lid on this Xtoon cauldron of toxic waste!
Im just curious if anyone else thinks this way.
When I read about the Pentagon, one constant theme occurs to me, wouldn't we be better off without it. I know there are some noble people who work there, but most of them are career bureaucrats. I know I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Any comments?
What really happened?
My gut feeing is that "W" has had it with Bubba. "W" spoke at the Rentagon yesterday and more or less chastized Clinton's non action for the attacks against us in the 90's.
While at the Pentagon, bet he kicked some behinds re: Abledanger.
Then, in all fairness, we should disband State as well.
"I had a bit of a go 'round with the IRS a few years back. I know what it is to feel helpless. My respect for a man like Schaffer who is standing against everyone almost by himself right now is immense."
I couldn't agree more.

Yes. You have wondered onto the wrong web site.
We need to have a military command structure and the problem is NOT in the Pentagon alone although there is plenty of corruption there to be sure!
I have argued for many years now, on this forum and elsewhere, that the single biggest impediment to "getting our country back" is not elected officials but the entrenced, civil service, bureaucracy in Washington D.C. Thus far, I have seen nothing which would cause me to alter that opinion.
That is, to be sure, the biggest whores nest in Washington but not the sole culprit!
See post #12.
He(Lt.Col.Tony Shaffer) is a true patriot no question. On an earlier AD thread where his lawyer, Mark Zaid was interviewed, they intimated that he may need financial help with legal costs down the road. There was an e-mail link to his lawyer. I"m ready. Hope others are as well.
........And combined with the new scandal of Schumer at the DSCC and the felonious activity there (data mining GOP candidates' credit reports) [ Hugh Hewit was ripping the Dems on this today ].........my, my my.
Of course the mainstream press is conveniently busy with other stories (trying to manufacture a scandal out of Frist while ignoring felonies by Schumer's folk wrecking crew), and their usual Stuck on (Howard Dean) Suck-Up mode should hold for quite a few days.
Good for you. For pointing it out. And for being prepared to do something about it.
But, ask yourself, why does a man testifying for himself on behalf of the truth before the United States Congress need a lawyer? He hasn't been charged with any crime, nor has any even been suggested.
Why do witnesses to potential government malfeasance need lawyers?
Understand I'm not intimating Shaffer is guilty of anything. Merely noting the precautions one must take if one is to testify before Congress...

Well meaning but naive thought. Schaefer is taking on the US government---and he knows it. The amazing thing is not that he needs a lawyer, but that he can do it, survive, and maybe even triumph. Believe it or not, with all the flaws here, we are seeing what makes America great.
Makes sense when you put it that way.
The amazing thing is not that he needs a lawyer, but that he can do it, survive, and maybe even triumph.
Which is, in fact, your main point, of course.
