I tend to agree with National Review. Not that conservatives need to be in trouble, but we are so fractured, and let's face it, many of our friends are ignorant as stones, we won't be able to coalesce into a real, effective, majority party anytime soon. Not without more conservatives getting up to speed on the issues.

That might even mean Republicans losing the next few general elections. Do not discount the ability of democrats to gather their base with with hardly anything more than a catchy slogan and a few widespread lies.

Conservatives who want to cut spending are going to be voting for Democrats who want to increase spending even more ?

Hardly likely. Only if in the general election there's a 3rd party conservative running will the Republicans be in trouble from their base.
