In terms of the U.S. economy, spending by the Federal gov has actually gone down since the 80's.

That's because you are including defense spending in your numbers. This is misleading because we were fighting the cold war at the time. Nondefense discretionary spending is at an all time high and has risen over 20% under Bush.

The Reagan spending increases were largely for defense. The Bush increases are for social programs.

That rates about a 3rd grade level.

I've come to expect more from you: 5th grade juvenile comments, at a minimum.

Wrong deport.

You wanted to discuss the article..... Well I gave you an assessment and apparently you don't like it. Tough. The Constitution gave the Congress, specifically the House of Reps with some certain responsibilities/powers.........

....All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills. ...

You have a nice day..... The last word is yours.

>>>> ... people forget, when Pres. Reagan talked of cutting spending, his budget was declared "dead on arrival" prior to submission by the Democrat congressional leadership.

That's right. The President proposes and the Congress disposes. Reagan sent Congress a balanced budget 7 of 8 years he was in office. Congress labeled all seven DOA!

Dane is universally disliked,

"Dane"? What or who is "Dane"? A shut-in perhaps, or an inmate with online privileges. He has a lot of "potty" on his mind. "Dane" seems best to be discussed behind his back in absentia.

"I don't know how he voted."

Well, now you do. He voted for every spending bill that Bush signed.

Nice quote from Rohrbacher. Too bad he hasn't lived it all these years.

Well you are the expert on FR of juvenile comments.

JMO, and FWIW, maybe someone should take a look in the mirror, hint hint, wink wink.

Bump (Except that Bush is not much better as a champion of traditional culture, than on economics. He is "Liberal" on many social issues, as his speech in New Orleans--the one in his shirt sleeves in the darkened square--certainly attests.)

Rohrabacher is a do-nothing congressman who occupies a safe seat...yet he's absolutely right.

Your original assesment at RE:#57 has to do with Congress and its legislative responsibility, but you leave out the Bush factor. Bush is the leader of the GOP, deport. If Bush wants something done in Congress he picks up the phone and tells Hastert, Delay and Frist to make it happen. When did you get so naive? LOL

Times have changed. America is significantly more post-modern today than in the 1980's.

Another non-cajones eunuch "true conservative" speaks his "mind"(reply #106) i.e not pinging.

Look, obviously you're angry at me for posting this thread. The real issue isn't how Rohrabacher voted, FRiend. Again, here's the issue for Rohrabacher. Read the article, get informed and stop whining.

>>>>"But at times like this, when we have an emergency where so much money is needed, it is incumbent upon us to cut the spending that is not absolutely necessary, not just make it reflect this value or that value," Rohrabacher added.

"Rohrabacher is a do-nothing congressman who occupies a safe seat...yet he's absolutely right."

He ought to know about Bush's spending; he's voted for every one of the spending bills Bush signed.

Well you are the expert on FR of juvenile comments.

I rate that as an "I'm rubber and you're glue"-style comment, which only rates a 2nd-grade score.

You are devolving quite quickly, Dane.

Then why do you hang around?

Because if he left, the sheer stupidity would plummet dramatically.

"The real issue isn't how Rohrabacher voted, FRiend."

Actually, it is. How am I to take him seriously when he's worked very hard over the past 18 years to help make the mess?
