I just saw a live shot of the Highways and there is NO TRAFFIC JAMS right now.

Of course. The contraflow cleared out the jams in three hours.

But the media have their story, and they'll pimp it even as people are driving out of Houston at the posted speed limits.

Zactly. TX DOT spokesperson said it was their job to route the traffic. They had to clear all the lanes first...covering a lot of miles then, station troopers at closed soutbound-on-ramps to assure the safety of the motorist. Considering how many miles and ramps between Dallas and Houston or wherever they chose to switch the lanes it ain't gonna happen in 10 minutes.
