The single biggest reason California's educational system has eroded so much in the last ten years is the CTA union. In a nutshell, they are corrupt, mean-spirited, and all Demorats!! Want something that is good to turn into sh**? Hire the CTA yokels to "manage it". They are a sorry lot that has been forced upon the California citizens.

I am one of the speakers who was shouted down this last Thursday in front of the CTA office in Sacramento. We couldn't even hear each other's speeches until we got home and listened to the streaming audio/video here: http://www.nrtw.org/california/ Some of the comments that came out in the press, "Now they know what it's like to have their voice silenced" and "What do they expect coming in front of OUR place," ignored the fact that we are in fact dues-paying teachers in CA! This is serious stuff, folks. If people don't take a stand now, it will be impossible to later! These people seem to think they have an entitlement to our money and no obligation to protect our integrity with how they spend it!!

The CTA said Thursday that anyone who has written to ask for the $60 will have it returned in October.
