I was just thinking, if we could only have a major earthquake in Cali, we would be officially up to our eyeballs.

I felt the 4.9 in the San Fernando Valley.

As not to offend the grumpy people on these threads, about these earthquakes I would just like to say, "You know whose, You know what"

Be right back. Gotta go change the sign outside our church to "Mettler, CA is the new Sodom and Gommorah." Geez, it's exhausing keeping up with all the new places deserving of God's wrath every day.

Just a 4.9, I mean OMG a 4.9!
where's my FEMA credit card.

I had barely finished putting up "Jet Blue #292 is the new Soddom and Gommorah" when it finally landed safely.

Holy Crap! Tha's right by our vacation home in Taft, CA. Remember the book, "Late Great Planet Earth"?

How many quakes does Mettler usually get per day? Some areas along the san andreas have had several quakes per day for as long as we have been recording.
Keep this in context before panic...or go ahead and panic if it blows our skirt up.

Interestingly we have been talking today about how the rest of the country is terrified of earthquakes in Ca. When we feel one, by the time you realize what it is, it is too late to be scared. I was born and raised in Iowa and always hated the summer storms. Much scarier to me than earthquakes.
Ran into a wall cloud, when visiting back there in June. Now that was truly scary.

I was just thinking last night, "Man, two cat 5 hurricanes in one season? If there's an earthquake in Cali tomorrow I'm leaving the office early and going to church!".
I'm going to hold out for a 7 or better, though. I think if God were ticked off he'd do better than this.

I was just thinking, if we could only have a major earthquake in Cali, we would be officially up to our eyeballs. Considering the time of year (when the hot Santa Ana winds start blowing) we're more likely to see major fires than EQs.

Mettler is not on the San Andreas. It's on the White Wolf Fault, which generated the Kern County Magnitude 7.5 quake in 1952, the third-largest in Southern California in the last 200 years.
It would likely take hundreds, perhaps thousands of years for the White Wolf to accumulate enough strain for a repeat performance.
