Unless there's some legislation I'm unaware of, the Democrats have no more right than I do to pull the credit report of an indivudial without his permission.

What would have been the benefit to them to doing this anyway? To see if he has a Home Depot card??

You can see all kinds of things on credit reports. Payment patterns, debt balances, payment amounts, other inquiries, bankruptcies, credit score, open lines of credit. Heck, just them running a credit report decreases the credit score a few points......
