RUmfield just asked that the meetings not be public. He is not holding them up. Imagine that National Security is involved.
I'm tired of 'National Security' being an excuse. 'National Security' failed on 9/11, thats why we need to get to the bottom of this mess.
The public/private meeting is one thing, and doesn't particularly concern me. The destruction of documents last year is something else. I would like to know why the Able Danger documents were destroyed last year.
"RUmfield just asked that the meetings not be public. He is not holding them up."
Maybe. Closed door meetings can be a way to kill something. You only have to fool and/or intimidate the people actually on the committee. Then they tell the rest of us that everything is OK, and it's done. At the same time, those on the committee he did not feel it's OK are told that everything that occurred was classified, and they are now not allowed to talk about.
" Imagine that National Security is involved."
It could be. Frankly, it seems doubtful. This relates to data mining and AI techniques. These techniques were developed for major corporations and have been used extensively for over a decade now. The military and intelligence establishments have been drawn into using these techniques in a very delayed and tardy fashion. It seems quite doubtful to me that these techniques are matter of national security. It is a matter of record that the information itself was all non-classified.
The reality is, Rumsfeld is covering up. He's doing it on Bush's orders. It's not certain, but it's near certain.
