There are 3,853 people in the Bolivar Peninsula CDP, which would include High Island and the rest of the 27-mile long peninsula down Texas 87 to Port Bolivar.

I can't get any more specific census data because the site's down.

Google Earth shows the elevation as 3 feet, by the way. We sometimes have to take Google Earth readings with a grain of salt. Literally.

The 3 foot elevation for most of that area is probably correct. The town of High Island sets on top of that one high point - the salt dome - that is 38 foot high.
