I lived in Waco from '92-97. my mother and brother are still there. I have been a little worried about local flooding and tornadoes in that area.

One thing about it, in this area we already know the flood prone areas so that's easy to avoid. Hope you've talked to your mom and brother today to make sure they're prepared just in case of power failure for a bit. Prolly not going to happen here - looks like the thing is going further east than we'd originally been planning for.

Nice to hear from ya. Always good to find "home folks" on FR!

Another Waco area FReeper here. Greyfoxx, is your family in a low lying area? I'm not especially uneasy about things here, but maybe that's stupidity on my part. Just got home from work, and saw gas lines in Waco, and heard reports that a few larger stations will run out of fuel tonight. The grocery stores are out of bottled water. Not sure if that's from a local panic mentality, or water supplies are being diverted elsewhere. I'm with one of the local hospitals, and we spent the day perfecting our disaster drill skills. We've already received transfer patients from hospitals southeast of us.
